Wealth Management
What Wealth Management Means at JTL Wealth Partners
Wealth management is more than picking investments. It is the ongoing coordination of everything that affects your financial life: your portfolio, retirement plans, taxes, insurance, estate plans, and the goals that matter most to your family. When those pieces are managed separately, opportunities get missed and decisions can work against each other. When they are managed together, your money has a clear purpose.
Since 1994, JTL Wealth Partners has provided independent wealth management to individuals, families, and business owners. From our headquarters in Plano, Texas, we serve clients across Texas and in 25 other states, meeting in person or by video and phone. Our approach reflects our tagline, Retirement, Simplified.: one plan, one team, and clear communication.
Investment Management Guided by Your Plan
Your portfolio should exist to support your plan, not the other way around. We build diversified portfolios based on your goals, time horizon, income needs, and comfort with risk, and we revisit them as your circumstances change.
- Asset allocation designed around your retirement income needs and long-term goals.
- Ongoing monitoring and rebalancing to keep your portfolio aligned with your plan.
- Access to a broad range of investment options through LPL Financial’s platform.
- Clear reporting so you always know what you own and why.
All investing involves risk, including possible loss of principal, and no strategy can assure a profit or protect against loss in a declining market. There is no guarantee that a diversified portfolio will enhance overall returns or outperform a non-diversified portfolio. Diversification does not protect against market risk. Asset allocation does not ensure a profit or protect against a loss.
Managing Concentrated Stock and Equity Compensation
Many of our clients work for large employers and receive restricted stock units, stock options, or employee stock purchase plan shares. Over time, company stock can become a large share of net worth, which concentrates risk in a single company. We help you understand your vesting schedules, tax consequences, and blackout windows, then develop a thoughtful plan to diversify over time while managing the tax impact.
Tax-Aware Portfolio Management
What you keep matters more than what you earn. We consider taxes in how your portfolio is built and managed, including which types of investments are held in taxable, tax-deferred, and Roth accounts (asset location), harvesting losses when appropriate, and managing capital gains during rebalancing. We coordinate these decisions with your CPA.
JTL Wealth Partners and LPL Financial do not provide tax or legal advice.
Risk Management and Protection
Building wealth is only half the job; protecting it is the other half. As part of your wealth management relationship, we review life, disability, and long-term care coverage, umbrella liability protection, and how your accounts are titled. For business owners, we also look at key person coverage and buy-sell funding. The goal is to identify gaps before they become problems.
Independent, Fiduciary Advice in Advisory Relationships
JTL Wealth Partners is an independent firm. Our team, led by Chris Mankoff, CFP®, acts as an investment fiduciary in advisory relationships, and we do not have proprietary products to sell. Fees are explained clearly up front. We offer three types of fee structures; a flat one-time planning fee, monthly subscription fee, or an annual management fee based on assets under our management.
Coordinating With Your CPA and Attorney
High-income families usually have several trusted professionals, but those professionals rarely talk to one another. With your permission, we act as the hub, sharing projections with your CPA before year-end, reviewing beneficiary designations and account titling with your estate attorney, and making sure everyone works from the same plan. That coordination is one of the most valuable parts of a wealth management relationship, and it saves you from having to be the go-between.
Whether you live in Texas or in one of the other states we serve, that means one plan, one point of contact, and decisions that support each other rather than compete.
A Relationship Built Around Communication
We believe you should never wonder what is happening with your money. Clients meet with us regularly, in person or by video and phone, to review progress, update goals, and talk through life changes like a new job, the sale of a business, an inheritance, or a child heading to college. Between meetings, our team is available Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 6 PM, with Saturday meetings by appointment.
